Site News I've been playing around with the templates in the blog so that I can make more varied style sheet theme things. I also went ahead and siwtched the code for the main page to do the popup comment thing again. Individual Post | Comments (1) | TrackBack (0) 12:31 0410.24 Extreme Dakota! I don't really know why I find the phrase 'Extreme Dakota' so blasted hillarious, but I think I'm going to do something with it sometime. I don't know what, though. Skateboarding Sioux Chieftain? Fictional Great Plains State? Whatever! It'll be awesome, yeah. I hope. Uh, anyhow. Weekend's been kind of boring. Did some research for my blasted term paperage, not much else. I guess Dusty tried to call me Friday night from Australia, but I had my phone off or something lame. Oh well. I've been thinking of updating benjiesdict for a while, but I really don't know what else to put in it. Highschool-era neuflang is slowly fading from my memory, and I can never remember if I've written soemthing down or not. Maybe I should make the thing into a co-operative project, or something. Would any of you punks be interested in that? Individual Post | Comments (8) | TrackBack (0) 14:14 0410.21 Strong Bad is freaking hillarious I mean, holy crap, man. This Strong Bad guy has been reading email... and... other cool stuff... for, like... a really long time, and he still totally awesome everytime he does it. Especially if it involves the Cheat. Yeah, that the Cheat is where it's at, man. Well, I gotta go, or else someone will noticed I have been typing on Ben's weblo-- I mean, yeah, I'm Ben and I'm not nearly as cool as Strong Bad, so I've got to go and... do some things... that aren't nearly as cool as thing Strong Bad would do... but are still things. Yeah. Individual Post | Comments (2) | TrackBack (0) 23:10 0410.19 Ad wizards take note! (Take 3 EDIT) Yeah, so I'm reading an article on wired today, and there's an ad about Samsung's new DDR2 RAM chips (I still say RD RAM was better, shut up). The copy for the ad reads basically thus: Evolution 1960 New Fashion Trend Neck Tie Evolution 1980 New Fashion Trend Mini Skirt Evolution 1990 New Fashion Trend Jeans Digital Revolution 2004 SAMSUNG DDR2 It's FAST & It's NEW Digital Trend Samsung DDR2Um, whiskey tango foxtrot, over? None of those years are right for the 'new fashion trends' ascribed to them. The more-or-less modern neckties came into vogue in the late 1800s. Miniskirts were popularized during the 1960s. And jeans... well, I don't know why they're so popular, but I know Levi Strauss was cranking stuff out before the American Civil War. I mean, if you're going to make a bunch of barely-related copy to advertise your new product, at least make sure the copy is at least vaguely true. REVOLUTION 27 NEW IAATB TREND LINK TO SHOCKWAVE AD Individual Post | Comments (2) | TrackBack (0) 23:50 0410.18 Owchus Man, I sprained my ankle getting off the shuttle to the long-term parking at Memphis international getting back from my trip home this weekend. Thie trip was pretty quality for the most part-- I got a haircut, and my braces fixed, and some new glasses, and I brought all my coats back to the dorm. I didn't get to see any of you Purduesky punks, though. Individual Post | Comments (3) | TrackBack (0) 19:43 0410.12 I want a record player for Christmas Seriously. One that can do 33s, 45s, and 78s, stereo, and has an automatic changer deal (you know, you stack a bunch of LPs on and it wil drop one down onto the turntable when the previous record is complete). It'd be so cool. And by cool, I mean totally sweet. Individual Post | Comments (8) | TrackBack (0) 14:47 0410.10 Extreme Dakota Hey, I've dropped a new splash page into the mix, iaatb7 (postcard). Yeah. Individual Post | Comments (1) | TrackBack (0) 10:46 0410.9 Oops It looks like October 2nd was the 2nd anneversary of this here blog, and I failed to make any mention of it! Anyhow. Score one more for me, I guess! Individual Post | Comments (3) | TrackBack (0) Rain Today was most pessimal. It was a steady downpour for most of the daylight hours, making everything outside a total pisser. Except for talking to a few people online, and going to Mall Wart to buy some milk and a paper towel holster, I didn't do anything, primarily because there isn't anything to do. Oh, I guess I watched the debates for a while. Whatever. Individual Post | Comments (0) | TrackBack (0) 21:34 0410.7 Check it out So today was messed up. No Elrod class today (he's off at some conference in Pittsburgh), so I got some lunch and then went back to my room. Fell asleep at three, woke up 7ish. Uh, since everybody I knew was off doing something else, I snagged some grub from Popeyes (three piece spicy dark meat with read beans& rice, biscuit, coke), bought some socks (Hanes high crews) from Mall Wart and then went to Hastings and bought a bunch of CDs. I might review them, I might not. I'm just kind of bored right now. Individual Post | Comments (1) | TrackBack (0) 23:42 0410.4 I love Waffle House I really do. I ddin't go tonight, because I was pretty dang tired, but, like, it's the best place ever. Even if when I wake up the next morning my hair is more stringy and greasy than it would be otherwise, it doesn't change the fact that it is such a tasty. Also, the New York 5 oz stip, medium well, with two eggs over medium, toast and scattered hash bizzles, with an OJ and a water is like the tastiest evening meal known to man. The second tastiest meal, of course, being an order of cheese-n-eggs with a side of a delicious waffle. Oh my somethingorother. I'm going to stop talking about this now so that I don't make myself hungry. Aw dude. Individual Post | Comments (6) | TrackBack (0) 00:02 0410.1 ROTATE You know, back when I made my second webiste in 1999 or so, I had this idea. See, a lot of sites I thought were cool had these splash pages (e.g., m.sn.c, toastyfrog), and would get a new one every so often. But my concept was going to trump that level of awesome: every time someone visited my site, they would be ranomly presented with one of many splash pages. I never got this off the ground, for whatever reason, and it was always the holy grail of achievement for my personal websites over the years. But today, the crusade has ended. I've finally created several suitable splash page designs, and, using the same scripting I use for all the other random elements on this site, iaatb.net now has a randomly-rotating splash page. Currently on rotation: iaatb2 - "is that what you want" (the previous static splash design) iaatb4 - "vintage" iaatb5 - "employees must wash hands" iaatb6 - "PANTS / Very Quality" (based on a tag on a pair of pants from the 1960s) What happened to iaatb(1) and iaatb3, you ask? Well, the former was merely a prototype splash page I made back when all I had was the blog (and that I subsequently never used), and while I think the overall design of the latter is pretty quality, it's not yet ready for prime time or whatever. For those of you too lazy to use the back button (or you just came straight to the blog), here's a link to the main page. Individual Post | Comments (17) | TrackBack (0) |
