Barquisimeto is a funny word
It's also where I am right now, in an internet caf頩n the airport. We fly to Caracas at 1500 local time (GMT -4:00, aka Atlantic Standard or Eastern Daylight Time) stay there overnight, and depart Caracas Something Something Simon Bolivar Airport at 0630 local. I should be back home sometime Wednesday afternoon or evening; I don't have my schedule nearby to tell exactly. However, the exact time is unimportant to the reader as I'm not leaving that there Neuhaus for any other reason besides, like, food until Saturday at the earliest. Oh my goodness I'm so totally not joking.

Stay tuned for a metric boatloadde (2.4 Boatloads US) of pictuars when I get back to the oh-so-tasty mission maple desk chair and vintage 1993 Model M attached to everybody's favorite workstation, 5NUSP. I can smell the savory sweetness of the RD RAM even as I type.

P.S. I just noticed the net caf頩s running a program on here called CyberCaf鐲o Client v4.1.455 . Tee-hee.

Model M or go home
Well, I' back in the net cafe for a brief update, since I don't have my laptop with me, so no new pictures or anything.

Basically, just some housekeeping notes, mainly (okay, almost totally) directed at Nazzy: for the last time, there will not be a link to the regular index from the front page for the forseeable future. This weblog is located at http://www.iaatb.net/blog/ ; all other normally-acessible directories are linked at the bottom of this page, as they have been since benjies moved to iaatb.net.

Further, I don't care to dignify Ryan's last bizzarre comment with a remark.

Also, I am going to take a picture of this blasted keyboard to show how wiggity wack and otherwisely non-welsh-five its layout is. In the words of Dave Chappelle, age 18-- clickity-clow!

Finally, I've got some download suggestions for y'all: "Yeah!" by Usher, feat. Ludacris and Lil John; "Roses" by Outkast; and this brand-new track by the Beastie Boys they're playing in the net cafe right now. I have some other suggestions, including non-rap and Spanish-language tracks, sitting on my laptop, so you'll get those whenever.

Gotta gochus; baichus.

Edit: Also too, "Talk Shows on Mute" by Incubus is most excellent. "You're so much more / Endearing with the sound turned off." Yum.

More pictures
I brought my laptop to the net cafe today, so I've ben able to czech all my email (147 messages on the GML alone XD) and upload a bunch of pictures. They'll be in /pics/0406.11/, and eventually on the front page when mom puts them on her homepage and links to them from there.

Oh, since anyone that's reading this is actually in the know, I no longer have a link through to the main site from the front page because the addess to the site somehow got on the mailing list for the campaign, and I don't want a bunch of random people poking around on this site with no idea what it is. Yeah.

Also, Rusty's given me the memory card from his camera, so eventually all his pictures will be up in /pics/rusty, at least temporarily.

Finally, I decided to run a traceroute from here to see how the traffic would route to lifegrid-40-1.onecall, which is the last stop on TEH INFORMATIAN SUPARHIGHEWAIGH before the ISDN router in Neuhaus basement. Here's the result:

En vivo de Barinas
Barinas, where the food is tasty, the coke comes in bottles, and the internet cafes have the most awkward spanish keyboard configuration I have ever seen. OH MY SOMETHINGOROTHER.

Everythinng's going pretty quality here. I need to figure out a way or a place to upload my pictures from, since I don't think I have any access to the USB ports here. Oh well.

LIVE FROM CARACAS
Yo ho ho! I made it, and whatnot!

Flight in was smooth; hotel in Caracas is awesome--- 110 dollar a night kind of a place back home, though I doubt it was nearly that expensive.

Speaking of money, fun anecdote: two dude slugged our luggage from immigration to the shuttle, with us stopping, doing random things, and taking about thirty minutes to get out the door of the airport, because we weren't in any hurry or anything. They loaded it up and everything. They agreed to 20k bolivares a piece-- about 7 bucks. Mmm, the economics of secondary nation-states.

ALso, went to dinner at the restauant on the hotel's campus-- Mr. Grill. Upscale, blah blah blah. Rusty and I split smoked salmon tortellini-- oh my goodness. Spectacular. I have pictures! Czech /pics/0406.2/ for some pictures. These haven't been edited or screened or downscaled or anything. Sorry.

PHENYLKETONURICS: CONTAINS PHENYLALANINE
What's happening, people?

I'm mostly all packed and have my cheap little IBM ThinkPad390X almost fully set up (it's running GIOS, vavy); all that's left is to convert all my flac to mp3s so that they'll fit on its puny 12 GB hard drive. Heck, my home directory alone is around 8 GB, so not all of it is even on here. Or the offline version of iaatb.net, for that matter-- that's like a gig and a half.

But, hey, I've got Firebird and Thunderbird and AIM and Messenger and PSP and Winamp and OOo and GIOS, so it's all good in the parenthood.
