SWEET SPOONS AND FORKS

Matthew 'Doggimus Maximus' 'Kramedog' 'Probbka' 'Doggamus Maximus' Kramer:

You so totally rock, dog.

Best Fishes,
Benjamin 'Our Bennyfactor' 'Don Paco' Lamb

Seriously, folks. This guy is the man. He just randomly sends me this instant message that not only has a hyperlink to this article that demonstrates that Saddam Hussein payed off the French to try and prevent war, but also a hyperlink to a TALKING DONALD RUMSFELD ACTION FIGURE. DUDE. WHERE'S MY CAR. Or something.

Obviously, that latter was an instant buy on my part, and it's being shipped UPS ground to Neuhaus. Soon it will sit right next to my Commander-in-Chief George Walker Bush (Naval Flight Gear) on my wall unit. I'm so freaking excited. Oh my goodness.

On Slicing Pizza with Duct Tape
Hey, Peter, what's happening?

Mmm. Office Space.

Nothing much to write about, I just decided that, since I'm kinda bored right now, I'd do some bloggage. I'm in Aaron and Dusty's room right now, listening to Aaron and Lieutenant Dan Vath playing guitar--Dusty's off at his 1300 class, which is, like, BOLD somethingorother. So, apparently the suitemates and Ivan have a party in my room until come in to sleep at 0000 or 0030 or whenever, when Lance and that hen guy just get up and leave without sword. Those little morons (not Ivan, of course, he's awesome).

Yeah, so that's about it.

Today's Delicious Recipe
Yeah, so, what's crackalackin' out there in readerland? I hope it's as rockin' for you as it is for me, or something.

Today was most excellent. Well, maybe it was only pretty quality, but, just like Conan O'Brien, I'm going to lie about the excellence if it doesn't actually exist. Anyhow, I love having this 0945 and an 1145 and a 1500-- I get a bunch of free time and it also seems like the day has been really long, which leads to fulfillment. That's the ticket.

Hopper! was awesome today. My entire life has consited of me awaiting the day I would be in a class like this. Seriously. What did we do? First, we discussed and contrasted the differences between Sumerian, Egyptian, and early Greek artistic styles, followed by a short interlude on why Post-modernism is criticism gone to seed, and wrapped up with a discussion of Andy Warhol. I mean, holy crap. HOLY CRAP, MAN. DUDE. OH MY GOODNESS.

But, seriously. It's an awesome class, although I hope I don't talk too much. I really like it, though.

I did miss sitting in Dusty's room listening to him play the guitar while I do random stuff all afternoon, though I did see him during my lunchbreak, which is a rare occurence. We mainly debated the merits of various writing utensils while perusing the Bookstore. By the way, our bookstore apparently doesn't get the old MS discount since XP pro is on sale there for like 200 bucks or something. OMGWTFLOLBBQ

So, dinner was decent. Just one of those wrap things and some Sierra Mist. I enjoyed watching the State of the Union without any moronic commentators (thank goodness we get C-SPAN on our crappy cable), though I'm sort of apalled at how informally some of the members of Congress (especially Hastert) were dressed. Oh well.

DOUBLE LOOPBACK PROTECTIAN
So, I bet you, like me, are getting pissed off by those audio ads in AIM. WELL WELL WELL FAGORTS, HEAR SI SOEM HELPFUL COMPUTAR HELP AND HELPING TIPS FOR YUO!!!

Fun things like DeadAIM might get rid of the ad images, but they do nothing to stop the new audio trash. So, instead of trying to hack the AIM client from displaying (and playing) these new ads, why not just prevent it from being able to download them in the first place? Thi sounds like a job for editing the hosts file! (Note: the below information is provided as-is without any sort of warranty, guarantee, or further support, either expressed or impled.)

'hots' file location for:
Windows 95/98/Me: c:\windows\
Windows NT/2000/XP Pro: c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\
Windows XP Home: c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\

Open the 'hosts' file in notepad. You can add the entries at the end of the file.
Usually the last entry is:
127.0.0.1 localhost

The bottom of the new file should be changed to:
(old last entry, usually 127.0.0.1 localhost)
127.0.0.1 ads.web.aol.com
127.0.0.1 ar.atwola.com

Ins hort, this tells programs that the internet addresses 'ads.web.aol.com' and 'ar.atwola.com' should point to 127.0.0.1, which is better known as 'localhost' (techspeak for your own machine), which is often used as a kind of 'null value' for IP addresses.
